This is a space where you ARE the artist you are called to be.
Work here, uninterrupted and inspired, for a few hours, days, or weeks. Get the project started. Progress on something you've already begun.
Or, GET 'ER DONE.
You need a space for your show! A place to gather your fans all together so they can ooh and ahh, or even buy what you've made.
Want to teach? Use our space to invite others in and share your skills with the world.
Let's collaborate.
Working alone as an artist is necessary, but sometimes you need advice, encouragement, accountability, coaching, a critique, or another set of hands.
A friendly face or even a snack can help you go the distance.
We've got you.
WHAT IS A RESIDENCY?
A residency is when you take time away from regular life to devote to your creative practice.
Residencies are an important part of a maker's identity and their body of work.
Residencies help to legitimize artists in the world of "work."
Residencies look different everywhere. There are hundreds of art residencies in the world. Each one has a different vibe. What they all have in common is time & space for being creative.
A residency is a retreat.
You do not have to be an "Artist" (with a capital A) to do an art residency/retreat. In fact, doing a residency makes you that Artist!
A residency provides a place and time for work, thinking, collaborating, resting, focusing, exploring, pushing, settling, starting, or finishing.
Anyone can do a creative residency. If you'd rather call it a creative "retreat," no problem.
Kestrel Fields Studio is an art residency set in the foothills of Colorado's Rocky Mountains.

Kestrel Fields Studio is a residency in which artists and creators pay a fee to come. In 2025, with immense thanks to several donors over the last two years, we are able to offer six fully funded residencies as well as several partial scholarships for others.
By coming to Kestrel Fields Studio for a residency or retreat, artists get the full use of our creative space, comfortable overnight accommodation if desired, easy access to our neighboring natural area, all the benefits of intentional creative time, art coaching and community if desired, with accountability and emotional support throughout.

A monthly email resource we call "Artist With a Capital A." (We will never share your email.)
Artists need to get paid and we would like to pay them. Exposure (unfortunately) doesn't pay the bills! We are building our residency program to eventually allow us to pay the artists who stay with us in-residence.
By donating to this fund, you become a special member of our tribe! We (and the artists) are eternally grateful for your support.
If you are a business or individual who would like to discuss sponsorship of a residency scholarship, please contact us here.
Contact us with any questions you have about using our space for your creative project.
We are excited to collaborate with you!
