If the voices in your head are whispering to you that you shouldn't use your money to pay for your own art residency (we know all about words like "frivolous," "unnecessary," "unimportant," and "stupid,") we hope you might reconsider this opportunity not as any of those (untrue) things, but rather as an investment. At the risk of sounding really cheesy, we believe residencies are something humanity needs artists to do.
Investing in your artistic journey with us isn't just a fee, it's a profound commitment to your craft, personal growth, and professional development and journey toward becoming an Artist. By choosing to join our small, close-knit family-run program, you're not only furthering your own artistic practice but also contributing to the sustainability and future of our unique program for future artists.
As artists ourselves, we understand very much the financial considerations artists face. At Kestrel Fields Studio, we diligently work to minimize costs while maximizing the value we offer. Besides use of the space for devoted, uninterrupted art time, we are dedicated to supporting your artistic journey while you're here and also any aspirations beyond our program. If you seeking grants or funding opportunities, we're more than willing to provide letters of acceptance and any necessary documentation to help you secure the financial support you deserve.
Kestrel Fields Studio's residency program does not expect you to pump out a completed masterpiece by the end of your Colorado art residency, or ANY art for that matter. We respect that time and space away is yours to design yourself, and imperative to the art you make, even if it's just lots of resting and thinking time. That said, if you might need some structure to help you out, we're here to collaborate and offer some accountability.
